Every April our country observes Child Abuse Awareness Month. It’s a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in strengthening families. As compassionate and responsible members of our community, we all strive to play a positive role in the development, health and safety of our children. As a valued Donor and part of the CASA of Westmoreland family, you are a significant reason why our CASA kiddos have a chance in the world. All of us at CASA deeply thank you for your past support, and during this critical time of year, we humbly ask that you again express your support of our mission to provide a voice to abused and neglected children in Westmoreland County.

We all have a role to play in child development, health and safety for our community – helping to prevent the effects of abuse and neglect provides our kids with the chance to grow into happy and productive adults. Having a consistent, nurturing relationship with a trusted, supportive adult, such as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) can greatly impact the lives of these children. We work to ensure that every child in Westmoreland County who has experienced abuse or neglect has a caring adult by their side who will speak up for their needs and best interests.

As we recognize during this month the urgent need to combat the devastating effects of child abuse and neglect, will you please join us in making a difference in the future of our children? Your pledge or donation of a special gift today will support the much-needed work of all our CASA Advocate Volunteers working strenuously on the front lines to protect children in need. Your contribution will enhance the life of a deserving child.

We invite you to read the story below from one of our Advocate Volunteers to see how your efforts can make a difference. And we ask that you help show your support by your pledge or donation today. Your generosity will assist us to recruit, train and support more CASA Advocate Volunteers so we can reach more children who are in need. Thank you in advance for in your help in Changing A Child’s Story.

P.S. You can make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children is many ways – become an Advocate Volunteer, serve as a CASA Ambassador, or make a financial donation today so that we can provide more Advocates for more children.

Changing A Child’s Story

“Donald and Suzanne Teti became CASAs in August, 2018. Their first case was a sibling group of three which included a 12-year-old girl. All suffered various types of abuse from family members. The first time the Teti’s met the young girl, she was living in a youth shelter — her eyes were downcast, her shoulders were slumped, and her clothes were old and worn. Thanks to the hard work of the Teti couple, the CASA office, the caseworker, and the child’s attorney, the young lady was given the opportunity to be placed with a wonderful foster family. Eleven months later, she was adopted! On adoption day, the Teti’s saw a transformed young lady. The downtrodden 12-year-old they met on the first day was now a happy, confident 13-year-old who smiled from ear-to-ear all day long. Many tears of joy filled the courtroom that day.”
