Karen is a passionate advocate for children and families in need. She is delighted and honored to accept her May 2019 appointment as Executive Director of CASA of Westmoreland, Inc. This new role builds on her experience in having served in the same role as Executive Director for CASA for Children of Essex County, Inc. in Newark, New Jersey for the most recent 16 years.
A recent transplant to the Pittsburgh area, Karen is looking forward to joining the Family Court Judges of Westmoreland County and the dedicated CASA of Westmoreland, Inc. Child Advocate volunteers, Staff team, Board of Directors, and the program’s generous donors and funders in service to the foster children of Westmoreland County.
Prior to CASA Advocacy work, Karen spent a decade in service to the Gallup Organization as Managing Consultant and Marketing Director. Her work there focused on the implementation of two types of Gallup workplace research studies – talent-based hiring profiles and employee engagement improvement.
A graduate of Hunter College of the City University of New York, Karen has also served in volunteer leadership roles in community-based immigrant support agencies and for non-profits addressing homelessness and AIDS. In Pittsburgh, she is a volunteer for the Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network, PERSAD, and CASA San Jose.
Her interests include enjoying the company of her family and friends, concerts, opera, reading, and nature. She thinks Pennsylvania is just splendid – in its people’s friendliness, generosity of spirit, and joy of life – and in its natural beauty.
Karen looks forward to getting started and getting to know all of you!
